Paul Davis and DIY to the Rescue

DIY Television Network - "Expert Contractor"

Did you know that Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling was chosen by the DIY television network to be their expert contractor? When the DIY television network had a project to film in Cincinnati for the network television show "DIY to the Rescue”, they called Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling!

Thank you so much for taking us on for the DIY. Your crew was so polite and hardworking, especially that Betty!!! How does anyone keep up with her! They were so much fun and dependable & Doug was always on top of things. I had so much fun joking with Doug to keep a difficult situation lighthearted. The basement is amazing and we are so grateful to be able to relax there as a family. I honestly do not remember the last time we got to do that. You have a company you should be proud of and workers that are amazing. That is something that is very rare in your industry. I wish you all much luck in the future and hope to tell many people about your company.

Sincerely,

Julie & Nathan Young
DIY to the Rescue—(Homeowners)

Last year, as part of a television series I supervise called DIY to the Rescue, I contacted Doug Wallin at Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the Tri State Area, in Latonia, KY, to see if he would take on a project. Frankly it was a much larger project than we normally take on and I was concerned.

Nathan and Julie Young, an adorable young professional couple, had been working on turning their dank basement into a fun gathering place for friends. The problem was that they had not done it correctly, and as a result they had problems with moisture.

Not only did Doug take this project, he far exceeded my wildest expectations. For example, once the couple started to realize that Paul Davis Restoration is an organization that operates by the books to the highest professional standards, Julie and Nathan got nervous. Had they done the work to those standards?

An inspection revealed that they had not installed any of the drywall or electric properly, and their basement was a hazard. In its current state, Doug Wallin of Paul Davis Restoration let me know it would be unethical to fix up the place because we would be putting a band-aid over an unhealed sore. The options were to cancel the project, since it was clear we could no longer complete the job in the three day period allotted for the program, or find a way to use the days leading up to the shoot to correct the mistakes the Youngs had made.

Doug Wallin volunteered to rip down all the drywall and electric, re-inspect the whole place under government supervision, and start over from scratch. Not only that, but he marshaled a team of at times up to a dozen contractors to work in shifts 20-24 hours a day in the time leading up to the shoot, so that he could complete the project as originally intended, with a showcase basement complete.

He knew that television budgets for these projects don’t allow for overages like that and he did it anyway. He had a million good reasons to just walk away and no one would have faulted him for doing so, but that’s not what Paul Davis Restoration, or Doug, are about. Doug wanted to complete the job because that is what he loves to do and that is what he has dedicated his life to doing. For me it was inspiring to have the opportunity to work with someone of that caliber.
